Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Most beginner scuba certification courses can be completed in as little as 3–4 days, depending on your schedule and how quickly you progress through the training. The certification process typically includes online or classroom learning, pool/confined water practice, and open water dives. At Scuba Diving Raleigh, training is designed to help you become a safe, confident diver at your own pace.
The cost of scuba certification can vary based on the course type, included equipment, and training location. Most beginner certifications include academic training, pool sessions, and open water dives. Some courses may also include rental gear and digital learning materials. Scuba diving is often compared in cost to other outdoor adventure activities like surfing, kayaking, or golf lessons — but with the added benefit of earning a lifetime certification recognized worldwide.
Basic swimming skills are required to become scuba certified. You don’t need to be an expert swimmer, but you should feel comfortable in the water. Most certification agencies require students to complete a short swim test and float/tread water for 10 minutes. If you’re comfortable in the water and eager to learn, scuba diving can still be a great experience for beginners.
